A 71-year old woman, Mrs Ayebameru Dele Samuel has been arrested and charged before a Lagos court for allegedly obtaining N300,000 from a victim, Mrs Dorcas Omotoriogun under false pretence. The incident happened at Igando where the suspect reportedly obtained the money and escaped. It was gathered that the victim gave the suspect the money to procure a set of furniture chair for her as she claimed she was in the business of furniture supplies.
However, after she obtained the money, he bolted away and did not supply any furniture to the victim as they agreed.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered the matter was reported to the police at Igando Division and the suspect was arrested and granted administrative bail to enable her to settle with the victim because of her age. But it turned out that the police efforts to resolved the matter was futile as the suspect refused to return the money to the victim. It was learnt the police invited her to come for the settlement but she refused and said she had no money to refund the victim.
She was then trailed, arrested and charged before Ejigbo Magistrates court for the alleged offence. She pleaded not guilty. The presiding Magistrate, Mr Akeen Fashola granted her bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum. She was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition. The matter was adjourned till 16th of August, 2017.
